Hire Cars

Car hire prices can often vary just as dramatically as flights, and the cheapest may not necessarily be the best.  Always check the small print especially where insurance is concerned.  Some companies may charge extra for more cover or have cheeky little clauses, which could negate any immediately obvious savings.

How you pay for fuel also varies from company to company.  Personally we prefer to take the car full and return it full.  Some companies will now charge you for a tank on pick up and then have you return the car empty, quite tricky if you are not used to the car!

ALWAYS check the car thoroughly in the light if possible and ensure the hire staff note any damage not already marked on YOUR copy of the paperwork BEFORE you take the car.  When you return the car make sure you get one of the hire staff to check over the car with you and ask them to SIGN YOUR COPY of the paperwork to confirm there is no new damage, or if there is, clearly state in writing exactly what it is.
